Destination: Love Book One
Destination: Waiheke Island – Faith & Dean
Faith Morgan finally leaves her unsupportive and unloving boyfriend when her romance novel is signed to a large publishing house. Her best friend suggests she visits her aunt on Waiheke Island in New Zealand to get away from it all. She jumps at the chance and vows to steer clear of men. What she doesn’t expect to find is love in the shape of sexy local businessman, Dean Jameson. As their relationship becomes more intense they admit their feelings for each other. When her return date looms closer, they begin to fear for their future. Will their love survive the distance, or will it fade when they’re miles apart?
“Take a walk with me, Faith.”
They were on their own at Edie’s. She’d gone off to visit friends.
Something about Dean’s behaviour was off. Her stomach churned. His demeanour had cooled considerably. They stood by the side of the beach. He huffed out a long breath and held her gently by the shoulders. His eyes looked sad.
“What’s the matter?” Although she wasn’t certain she needed to know the answer.
“I want you to know that I love you…”
“But?” she prompted.
“With the Sandi incident and now Alan, I need some time to get my head together. It’s all been a bit too much. I have to process everything. I want some time alone.”
“You’re breaking up with me?” Her voice cracked.
He shook his head and ran his hands through his hair.
“No, but it’s been a little taxing. I think we should spend a few days apart. You have your writing and I have a visit to make to Adelaide. Let’s allow the dust to settle.”
“It sounds like a brush off to me, Dean.”
“It isn’t. I think it’ll be good to…”
“Save it. I don’t want to hear anymore. All your words were just bullshit. Maybe you have found another tourist to sleep with instead of messing with me.”
“Please, Faith, I’m saying this all wrong.”
She ran back to her aunt’s, her vision blurred by her tears. How could she have been so foolish to think that she’d find a perfect love.
